A Fun Way to Get Some Exercise

Do you find yourself eating too much over the holidays?

    Well, I know of a
fun way to help work off those extra pounds - LAUGH!

As "Cardyologists" we often prescribe our humorous greeting cards as
an excellent treatment for a variety of occasions. This week is not only
Thanksgiving, it's also National Game Week!

Laughing is actually healthy for you - mentally and physically.

Getting out the board games this Thanksgiving is not only a fun way to
connect - it’s also a good way to get a little exercise, lower your stress
level, help you fight off diseases, stimulate your brain functioning,
become more relaxed and have a lot of fun!

Mentally, you escape from your troubles by focusing on performing
an operation, bankrupting your opponent, forming words with letter
tiles or racing to the finish. How can you worry about work while you’re
acting like a goofball, making gestures or quickly doodling to get your
    teammates to say certain words?
It’s nearly impossible to mope about
    problems while playing a game.

Physically, when you laugh, your body actually gets a workout! Many
things happen in your body when you laugh. Your heart rate rises and
your muscle tone and circulation improves. Your lungs breathe in more
air, your immune system gets a boost, your blood pressure lowers and
    those
belly laughs massage your intestines, helping with digestion.
Laughter also distracts you from pain and releases hormones that
make you feel good. There is actually a name for the physiological
    study of laughter - Gelotology.

You’ll probably end up laughing while playing almost any game, but
some types of games tend to cause more laughter than others. Some
make you think quick, act silly, do impersonations or reveal funny
things about yourself. What a fun way to get an aerobic workout!

Warning: Playing board games makes you very susceptible to
catching the giggles, which is extremely contagious!

Although we still have to eat right, drink lots of water and listen to our
    doctor, we can
get some exercise and boost our immune systems
to help fight the cold & flu season - by playing board games!
